The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are signing DTย John Hughes to a contract on Monday, according to Greg Auman.
The decision to sign Hughes is due to DT Gerald McCoy being sidelined with calf injury he sustained during Sunday’s game.
Hughes, 27, is a former third-round pick of the Browns back in 2012. He was in the second year of his five-year, $15.6 million contract and set to make a bases salary of $2.4 million for the 2016 season when the Browns cut him loose last week in a move that freed up $2.2 million in available cap space.
The Patriots signed Hughes to a contract last week before cutting him loose on Saturday.
This season, Hughes has appeared in one game for the Brownsย but has yet to record a single a tackle.
