Cardinals Re-Sign C Lyle Sendlein, Cut QB Chandler Harnish

Update:

The Arizona Cardinals have, in fact, re-signed veteran C Lyle Sendlein to a contract on Friday.

  • The Cardinals also signed G Nate Isles and WR Travis Harvey and placed QB Chandler Harnish on waivers in a subsequent move.

Harnish, 26, is a former seventh-round pick of the Colts back in 2012. He lasted two years in Indianapolis before the Colts waived him at the start of the 2014 season.

The Vikings would later sign Harnish to their practice squad before waiving him to make room for FB Zach Line. The Cardinals wound up signing him to a one-year contract back in late March.

Harnish has yet to appear in an NFL game.

Mike Jurecki of Fox Sports 910 is hearing that the Cardinals plan to bring in veteran C Lyle Sendlein for a physical on Suatrday, and as long as everything checks out, the plan is to sign him to a contract.

  • Jurecki adds that the Cardinals are not happy with their current situation at center and expects Sendlein to compete for starting job if/when he’s signed.

There was some talk a few months ago that Sendlein could be brought back, depending on how things went this summer.

Sendlein, 31, was in the final year of his five-year, $16,250,000 contract that included $3,500,000 guaranteed when the Cardinals released him back in March.

In 2014, Sendlein appeared in all 16 games for Arizona, but Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 40 center out of 41 qualifying players.
