Cardinals Have Rejected “Significant” Offers For Patrick Peterson

According to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, the Cardinals have rebuffed other teams’ advances for CB Patrick Peterson and turned down multiple “significant” deals.

At least one of the offers included a first-round pick for Peterson and possibly more. Florio speculates that since the Eagles reportedly offered a first and second-round pick for CB Jalen Ramsey, they could have offered something similar for Peterson.

Peterson has received a lot of interest from other teams dating back to last season. However, the Cardinals have maintained publicly and privately that they are not considering dealing the corner.

“I don’t know why the questions persist,” Keim said via Darren Urban of the team website. “I have addressed it multiple times, last week or a couple of weeks ago — we are not trading Patrick Peterson. Our stance is simply been, why trade a player in his prime at one of the hardest positions to find, for a maybe or a couple of maybes (with draft picks).

Peterson completed his six-game suspension for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy and played in his first game last week.

Peterson, 29, is a former first-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2011. He’s currently in the fifth year of his seven-year, $83.02 million that included $48 million guaranteed and set to make base salaries of $11 million over the next two years of the agreement.

In 2019, Peterson has appeared in one game for the Cardinals, recording seven total tackles, one sack and one forced fumble.

We’ll have more on Peterson as the news is available.
