Cardinals May Only Be Able To Get 3rd-Rd Pick For Josh Rosen?

Peter King writes that he would be “shocked” if the Cardinals have already made up their mind to draft Murray 53 days in advance of the draft.

King points out that as soon as they begin to shop Josh Rosen, it becomes clear what their plans are at No. 1 overall.

King spoke with a “renowned NFL GM” who said that the Cardinals may only be able to get a third-round pick for Rosen right now.

“Probably a three,” the GM said. “Not what the Cardinals would think his value is.

Of course, it’s possible that the compensation for Rosen could increase as teams start to show interest, but it’s obviously not ideal to trade a quarterback you used a first-round pick on a year later for a third-round selection.

Last week, Cardinals GM Steve Keim offered a tepid response when asked if Rosen is their starting quarterback moving forward.

“Is Josh Rosen our quarterback?” Keim said, via 98.7 Arizona Sports. “Yeah, he is right now. For sure.

Rosen, 22, is a former first-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2018. He signed a four-year, $17,664,284 contract that includes an $10,926,792 signing bonus.

The contract includes a fifth-year option for the Cardinals to pick up in 2021.

In 2018, Rosen appeared in 14 games for the Cardinals and completed 55.2 percent of his passes for 2,278 yards, 11 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.

We’ll have more regarding the Cardinals as the news is available.
