Cardinals Place LBs Sam Acho & Lorenzo Alexander On Injured Reserve

Cardinals HC Bruce Arians told reporters on Monday that linebackers Sam Acho and Lorenzo Alexander were both placed on season-ending injured reserve.

Alexander signed a three-year contract worth $9.5 million contract that included $3 million guaranteed this offseason. He was filling in for Daryl Washington who will miss another game due to a suspension.

Acho put together a very solid rookie season last year. He tallied 41 tackles, seven sacks and four forced fumbles in 2011, so it’s not going to be easy for them to replace that kind of production, but certainly possible.

It seems very likely that veteran options will be brought in this week for workouts.

One other quick note regarding the Cardinals defense. FS Rashad Johnson underwent finger surgery Sunday night. Johnson reportedly lost top of his middle finger during Sunday’s game New Orleans. He took off his glove and part of his finger was still in there.
