Cardinals Worked Out 9 Players Including QB Matt Simms

According to Howard Balzer, the Cardinals brought in nine players for tryouts on Monday including QB Matt Simms.

The full list of tryouts for the Cardinals includes:

  1. DL Sterling Bailey
  2. DL Tavaris Barnes
  3. DB Dejuan Butler
  4. RB Aaron Green
  5. RB Bronson Hill
  6. G Jason King
  7. OT Austin Shepherd
  8. WR Alonzo Russell
  9. QB Matt Simms

Of this group, the Cardinals signed Hill to their practice squad.

Simms, 28, originally signed on with the Jets as an undrafted out of Tennessee back in 2012. He spent just over three years with the Jets before he was waived and later claimed off of waivers by the Bills.

However, Simms was unfortunately among their final roster cuts at the start of the 2015 season. Simms later signed on to the Falcons’ practice squad and returned to Atlanta on a futures deal before he was waived last September.

The Falcons did, however, re-sign him to their practice squad. Simms returned to the Falcons this past May but was waived with an injury designation and was later placed on injured reserve.Atlanta waived Simms with an injury settlement before the start of the season.

In 2014, Simms was signed to the team’s practice squad and wound up appearing in one game, completing 3-of-8 pass attempts for 39 yards.
