According to Howard Balzer, the Arizona Cardinals brought in four free agents for workouts this week including OT Derek Newton and DT Will Sutton.

The full list of tryouts for the Cardinals includes:

  1. OT Cornelius Lucas
  2. OT Derek Newton
  3. DT Will Sutton
  4. DT Vincent Valentine

Newton, 30, is a former seventh-round pick of the Texans back in 2011. He was entering the third year of his five-year, $26.5 million contract that includes $10 million guaranteed and was set to make a base salary of $2.25 million for the 2017 season.

According to OverTheCap.com, Houston freed up $2 million of available cap space $1.5 million in dead money by releasing him back in April.

The Jets brought in Newton for a workout earlier this month but did not sign him to a contract following the session.

In 2016, Newton appeared in six games for the Texans and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 47 offensive tackle out of 78 qualifying players.

Sutton, 26, was taken in the third round of the 2014 NFL draft by the Bears. He was in the final year of his four-year, $2,851,068 contract and set to make a base salary of $705,000 for the 2017 season when the Bears recently cut him loose.

The Vikings quickly signed Sutton to a deal but decided to waive him as they trimmed their roster down to the 53-man limit. Since then, he has worked out for the Lions, Redskins, and Broncos, but was never received a contract offer.

The 49ers signed him to a contract back in July but was among their final roster cuts coming out of the preseason.

The Dolphins also worked out Sutton earlier this month but did not sign him to a deal.

In 2016, Sutton appeared in eight games and recorded 15 tackles and no sacks for the Bears.
