Chargers Hoping To Take A CB In Round One

According to Michael Gehlken of the Union Tribune San Diego, the Chargers are hoping that one of their two or three highest-rated cornerbacks will be available to them at No. 25 overall.

  • Gehlken specifically mentions that the Chargers “covet” Ohio State’s Bradley Roby and Michigan State’s Darqueze Dennard.
  • Gehlken adds that TCU’s Jason Verrett could be an option as well, but this will ultimately be determined by how high they have him rated.
  • As for a surprise pick, Gehlken mentions that UCLA G Xavier Su’a Filo could be someone to watch.

There is no question that the Chargers need to add some talent to their secondary and offensive line. Recent reports mentioned that Nevada OT Joel Bitonio could be on their radar, but there is no guarantee that they will see as much value at offensive line than at cornerback.

We have the Chargers taking Jason Verrett at No. 25 overall in our final 2014 NFL Mock Draft.
