ProFootballTalk reports that the Chargers are placing an original-round tender on restricted free agent CB Trevor Williams.
The original-round tender will cost the Chargers $2.025 million for the 2019 season and give them the opportunity to match any offer Williams receives from other teams.
Williams, 25, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Chargers as an undrafted free agent out of Penn State back in 2016. He was unable to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason and signed on with their practice squad. He was eventually promoted to the active roster.
He landed on Los Angeles’ injured reserve in December due to a knee injury.
In 2018, Williams appeared in nine games for the Chargers and recorded 23 tackles, one interception and four pass defenses.
