The San Diego Chargers announced that they’ve re-signed veteran RB Donald Brownย to a contract on Monday.
- The Chargers also placed OLย Michael Ola on waivers to make room for Brown.
Brown, 28, was in the second year of his three-year, $10.5 million contract that included $4 million guaranteed. He was set to make base salaries of $3 million in 2015 and 2016 when the Chargers cut him a few days ago so that they could sign Ola to their active roster.
Last year, Brown appeared in 13 games for the Chargers and ran for 223 yards on 85 carries (2.6 YPC) to go along with 29 receptions for 211 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
Ola, 27, spent the past two years with the CFL’s Montreal Alouettes after he went undrafted out of Hampton back in 2011 before he got an opportunity with the Miami Dolphins in January of last year. He lasted just a few months in Miami before he was cut and later claimed off of waivers from the Bears.
The Chargers wound up signing him to their practice squad at the start of the season before promoting him a few days ago.
