Chargers Sign WR Vincent Brown, Waive S Adrian Phillips

Update:

The San Diego Chargers announced Wednesday that they’ve officially signed WR Vincent Brown to a contract and waived S Adrian Phillips.

  • The Chargers also signed TE Tim Semisch to their practice squad and placed TE Alex Bayer (foot) on practice squad injured list.

Phillips, 23, signed on with the Chargers as an undrafted free agent out of Texas back in May of last year. He’s been on and off of the Chargers’ practice squad since then, so it would not be a surprise to see him end up back on their taxi squad.

This season, appeared in six games and record 12 tackles for the Chargers.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Chargers are signing WR Vincent Brown to a contract on Tuesday.

San Diego reportedly brought in a number of free agents for workouts on Tuesday including Austin Pettis, but it appears as though Brown was the most impressive of the bunch.

Brown, 26, is a former third-round pick of the Chargers back in 2011. However, he lasted just over three years in San Diego before he waived with an injury settlement at the start of the 2014 season.

After one year with the Raiders, Brown later caught on with the Colts as an unrestricted free agent back in March. Unfortunately for Brown, he was among the team’s final roster cuts at the start of the season.

In 2014, Brown appeared in seven games and caught 12 passes for 118 yards receiving and no touchdowns for the Raiders.
