Chargers TE Hunter Henry Expected To Return For Wildcard Game

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Chargers TE Hunter Henry, who tore his ACL during the offseason, is expected to play against the Ravens on Sunday.

Los Angeles officially activated the 21-day practice window for Henry a few weeks ago, so a return next week would fit this timetable.

Henry is still on Physically Unable to Perform and does not count against the 53-man roster limit and would miss the remainder of the season if the Chargers decline to activate him.

Reports have said for months now that there was still a chance Henry could return this year, despite suffering an ACL tear several months ago.

Henry, 24, is a former second-round pick of the Chargers back in 2016. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $6.38 million contract that included $3.98 million guaranteed and stands to make base salaries of $1.03 million and $1.32 million over the final two years of the agreement.

In 2017, Henry appeared in 14 games for the Chargers and caught 45 passes for 579 yards receiving and four touchdowns. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 3 tight end out of 74 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding Henry as the news is available.
