Chargers tackle Tra Thomas Retires

Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune is reporting that veteran left-tackle, Tra Thomas, has announced that he will call it career.

The Chargers choose to bring Thomas in as a replacement for Marcus McNeill who is currently holding out, but since he has decided to retire, the team is now left with a group of young offensive lineman that will try to replace the two-time Pro Bowler. This situation could give McNeill an added amount of leverage during  the ongoing negotiations between the two parties. Chargers GM A.J. Smith met with McNeill last week to discuss the current situation but all signs indicate that there was little progress made during the meeting.

Tra Thomas under went surgery in the early part of training camp and didn’t have that good of camp because of it which had left him as a possible roster cut.
