Chiefs Could Get Matt Cassel Back This Season

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Todd Haley mentioned that QB Matt Cassel‘s surgery went “really well” yesterday and added that the team does not have plans to place Caseel on season-ending injured reserve, via the Kansas City Star.

I would say there is potential [for a return],” said Haley, “but that really depends here on this first week and how things go.”

For the time being it’s going to be Tyler Palko‘s responsibility to keep the Chiefs in the race for the AFC West but that’s going to be pretty tough as his first game is on the road in New England for Monday Night Football. If he struggles mightily, Ricky Stanzi could get a shot as well but one step at a time.
