Chiefs Discussing A New Contract With DE Tyson Jackson

Chiefs impending free agent DE Tyson Jackson expects contract talks with the Chiefs to “pick up” in coming days.

As of right now we just started negotiations with the Chiefs, hopefully it picks up in the next few days,” said Jackson, via Sirius XM NFL Radio.

Jackson, 27, will be an unrestricted free agent in a matter days and should have a decent market for his services. The Chiefs got Jackson to restructure his contract and until reduce his pay by $10 million last year. He still made a base salary of $4.2 million.

Jackson totaled 33 tackles and four sacks over the course 15 games last season. He was rated as the No. 14 defensive end in a 3-4 system, according to Pro Football Focus.
