Adam Schefter reports that the Chiefs are signing WR Kelvin Benjamin to a contract following his visit on Thursday.
Schefter adds that Benjamin receives a one-year contract from Kansas City, which gives him a chance to reestablish some value over the remainder of the season.
It will be interesting to see how the Chiefs use Benjamin in their offensive scheme moving forward and long it takes for him to a carve out a role.
Benjamin, 27, is a former first-round pick of the Panthers back in 2014. He played out the final year of his four-year, $7.66 million contract that includes $6.19 million guaranteed when the Panthers picked up his fifth-year option last year.
Carolina elected to trade Benjamin to the Bills third- and seventh-round picks last year. However, Buffalo waived him on Tuesday.
Benjamin will be an unrestricted free agent in 2019.
In 2018, Benjamin has appeared in 12 games for the Bills and caught 23 passes for 354 yards receiving and one touchdown.
We have him featured in our Top 50 Available 2018 NFL Free Agents list.
