Colts Activate TE Andrew Vollert, Waive WR Chad Williams With Injury Designation

The Colts announced they have activated TE Andrew Vollert to the active roster and waived WR Chad Williams with an injury designation.

Vollert was on the exempt list while he was onboarded to the Colts after being claimed off waivers from the Panthers.

Vollert, 25, wound up going undrafted out of Weber State back in 2018. He signed a three-year, $1.71 million contract with the Cardinals, but was on and off of their practice squad before catching on with the Bengals last November.

Cincinnati brought Vollert back on a futures contract in January of last year only to waive a few months later. The Chargers quickly claimed him off of waivers from the Bengals but was waived with an injury designation and reverted to their injured reserve.

Los Angeles cut him loose two weeks ago. He was signed by the Panthers but cut again after just a few days.

During his college career at Weber State, Vollert caught 146 passes for 1,977 yards receiving and 13 touchdowns over the course of 38 games.

Williams, 25, is a former third-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2017. He was entering the third year of his four-year, $3.17 million contract and set to make a base salary of $671,500 for the 2019 season when the Cardinals waived him coming out of the preseason.

Williams caught on with the Colts practice squad shortly after. He late was promoted to the active roster and appeared in one game in 2019, earning one target.

In 2018, Williams appeared in 10 games for the Cardinals and caught 17 passes for 171 yards receiving and one touchdown.
