Colts Looking To Sign A DT?

Brett Mock of Colts blog Coltzilla makes the case for Colts signing a defensive tackle during the upcoming free agency period. Mock specifically lists Brandon MebaneBarry Cofield and Tommie Harris as three such targets.

Of the players listed, it make the most sense for them to target one of either Brandon Mebane or Barry Cofield considering that you can’t be certain what you’re getting with Tommie Harris. If they end up missing out on Mebane or Cofield, they could keep Harris as a contingency option that should also be cost effective.

Colts blog Stampede Blue suggests that Cofield is the best target for the team considering that he has already played in Perry Fewell‘s defensive scheme.

Continuity is a worthy consideration that I’m sure the Colts will recognize but Mebane and Cofield are likely to require a pretty sizable contract which is something that could be an issue for the Colts considering that they are going to have to address a number of players (Peyton Manning, Reggie Wayne, Joseph Addai, Robert Mathis, Melvin Bullett) at some point in time.
