Colts Place QB Charlie Whitehurst & G Hugh Thornton On I.R.

The Indianapolis Colts announced that they’ve placed G Hugh Thornton and QB Charlie Whitehurst on season-ending injured reserve Monday.

The Colts top-three quarterbacks are all injured, which means Stephen Morris would be their starter for Week 17’s game.

Indianapolis brought in former first-round pick Josh Freeman for a workout on Monday, so that’s something to keep an eye on in the coming days.

Whitehurst, 33, is in the second year of his two-year, $4 million contract that includes $2 million guaranteed. He’ll make a base salary of $2 million this season before testing the free agent market next year.

His 2015 season comes to an end with him appearing in five games and throwing for 150 yards while completing 50 percent of his passes to go along with one interception and no touchdowns.
