The Indianapolis Colts announced Saturday that they’ve signed TE Zach Conque to a contract and waived TE Billy Brown with an injury designation.
Should Brown clear waivers on Monday, he would revert to the Colts’ injured reserve list.
Conque, 25, wound up signing a three-year, $1.66 million contract with the Texans as an undrafted free agent out of Stephen F. Austin in 2017. He was set to make base salaries of $465,000 and $555,000 over the first two years of the contract when the Texans cut him loose coming out of the preseason.
Conque had a brief stint on the Jets’ practice squad before the Jaguars signed him to a contract. Unfortunately, Jacksonville waived him with an injury designation and he later reverted to their injured reserve list.
From there, the Jaguars waived Conque with an injury settlement last year.
During his college career between Texans-San Antonio and Stephen F. Austin, Conque played quarterback and threw for 6,867 yards while completing 57.3 percent of his passes to go along with 46 touchdowns and 24 interceptions. he also rushed for 1,605 yards and 34 touchdowns over the course of 36 games.
