Colts Tried Out Nine Including WR Chad Hansen

According to Howard Balzer, the Indianapolis Colts brought in nine free agents for workouts this week including WR Chad Hansen.

The full list of tryouts for the Colts includes:

  1. K Taylor Bertolet
  2. K Kai Forbath
  3. K Cairo Santos
  4. WR C.J. Board
  5. WR Montay Crockett
  6. WR Chad Hansen
  7. DT Zaycoven Henderson
  8. S A.J. Howard
  9. S Rolan Milligan

Of this group, the Colts signed Milligan to their practice squad.

Hansen, 23, was selected with the No. 141 overall pick by the Jets in last year’s NFL draft. He was entering the second year of his four-year rookie contract worth $2,819,648 when the Jets elected to waive him as they trimmed their roster down to the 53-man limit.

The Patriots claimed him off of waivers shortly after but elected to waive last month. Hansen had a brief stint on the Titans’ practice squad.

In 2017, Hansen appeared in 15 games for the Jets and recorded nine receptions for 94 yards (10.4 YPC) and no touchdowns.

Santos, 26, wound up signing on with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent out of Tulane back in 2014. He returned to the Chiefs this past March on a one-year restricted deal worth $1.797 million.

Kansas City elected to place him on injured reserve with a groin strain at the start of the season and cut him loose with a settlement soon after. The Bears later signed him to a contract before placing him on injured reserve for the second time during the 2017 season.

The Jets signed Santos to a contract this past March but released him during the preseason. He signed on with the Rams a few weeks ago.

In 2018, Santos has appeared in two games for the Rams and converted 5 of 6 field goal attempts and 5 of 6 extra point tries.

Forbath, 30, originally signed on with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of back in 2011. Forbath had a brief stint with the Buccaneers before joining the Redskins for the 2012 season. After three years in Washington, Forbath signed on with the Saints during the 2015 season and returned to New Orleans on a one-year contract the following year.

The Vikings signed Forbath to a two-year contract is worth $1.1 million towards the end of the 2016 season. He returned to the Vikings this past March on a one-year contract but was released on Monday.

In 2017, Forbath appeared in all 16 games for the Vikings and converted 32 of 38 field goal attempts (84.2 percent) to go along with 34 of 39 extra point attempts (87.2 percent) and 44 touchbacks.
