Cowboys Expected To Approach WR Allen Hurns About Pay Cut

According to Clarence Hill, the Dallas Cowboys plan to ask WR Allen Hurns to take a pay cut.

Agent Drew Rosenhaus said the team had not approached him about reducing Hurns’ salary yet, but Hill says a source has told him “it’s only a matter of time.”

The Cowboys picked up the 2019 option on Hurns’ deal earlier this offseason. Hurns is reportedly recovering well from a gruesome ankle injury suffered in the playoffs.

Hurns, 27, signed on with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent out of Miami back in 2014. He was in the final year of his rookie contract when the Jaguars signed him to a five-year, $40.6 million deal that included $20 million guaranteed in 2016.

Hurns was set to make base salaries of $6.9 million and $7.9 million over the next two years of the agreement when the Jaguars released him last year. The Cowboys later signed him to two-year, $12 million contract.

In 2018, Hurns appeared in 16 games for the Cowboys and caught 20 passes for 295 yards receiving and two touchdowns.
