Cowboys Waive RB Lache Seastrunk, Claim DB Rod Sweeting Off Waivers

The Dallas Cowboys placed RB Lache Seastrunk on waivers Thursday and claimed DB Rod Sweeting off of waivers from the Bills.

Seastrunk, 24, was selected in the sixth-round of the 2014 NFL draft by the Redskins. However, he was unable to make the final 53-man roster coming out of the preseason.

He later caught on with the Panthers briefly before signing to the Titans practice squad in October of last year. Tennessee wound up signing him to a future/reserve contract in December, only to place him on waivers close to a month ago.

The Cowboys elected to sign him to a contract back in June.

Seastrunk was a five-star recruit coming out of high school, but he would later transfer to Baylor. He produced 2,189 yards rushing on 289 carries (7.57 YPC) and 18 TDs for the Bears over the course of two years.

Sweeting, 24, originally signed on with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of Georgia Tech back in 2013. He lasted jsut over a year in New Orleans before he was waived and signed by the Dolphins.

The Bills wound up signing Sweeting to a future/reserve contract back in December of last year.

He hasn’t appeared in an NFL game since the 2013 season when he was playing for the Saints and recorded three tackles over the course of nine games.
