Report: Cowboys Reach An Agreement With LB Justin Durant

Update:

ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that the Cowboys have reached an agreement with former Lions LB Justin Durant on a two-year deal.

  • Schefter adds that the Cowboys will officially sign Durant once they’ve created the necessary cap space to do so.

This is a clear indication that Dallas is close to reaching a long-term agreement with either DE Anthony Spencer or QB Tony Romo. Recent reports have suggested that Spencer is more likely to receive an extension at this point in time.

Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that a source has informed him that the Cowboys will bring in free agent safeties Michael Huff and Will Allen, as well as LB Justin Durant for visits on Monday.

  • Ian Rapoport reports that the Cowboys do not have any immediate plans to sign either of these players.
  • Huff is also scheduled to visit with the Ravens at some point. (Baltimore Sun)

Dallas currently has $102,000 in cap space to work with, so it’s doubtful that any of these players will be signed soon. The Cowboys are reportedly in the process of lowering the cap figures of QB Tony Romo and LB Anthony Spencer, but Hill doesn’t see this as an indication that a deal is close with either player.

We have Huff listed as the No. 42 player in our recently updated Top 50 Free Agents list.
