Darren Sproles Waiting Until May To Decide About Returning For 2019 Season

Free agent RB Darren Sproles says he’s had “some talks” with the Eagles about a return for the 2019 season, but he plans to wait until May before making a final decision about whether to return for the 2019 season.

“We’ve had some talks,” Sproles said, via Dave Weinberg of the Press of Atlantic City. “I’m going to wait until May before I make my decision. We’ll have to see.”

Last we heard about Sproles, Chris Mortensen reports that while he had said previously that the 2018 season was expected to be the final year of his NFL career,  Sproles had mentioned to teammates and staff that he could return for another season.

Sproles, 35, is a former fourth-round pick of the Chargers back in 2005. He spent five years in San Diego before signing on with the Saints in 2011. New Orleans later traded him to the Eagles for the 2014 season.

Sproles played out the final year of his two-year, $8 million contract before signing a one-year, $1.415 million contract with the Eagles this last April.

Sproles is currently an unrestricted free agent in 2019.

In 2018, Sproles appeared in six games for the Eagles and rushed for 120 yards on 29 carries to go along with 15 receptions for 160 yards and three total touchdowns.
