David Garrard Appears To Be Leading The Dolphins QB Competition

ESPN’s Adam Schefter mentioned on yesterday’s SportsCenter that the competition for the Dolphins starting quarterback position appears to have a favorite. While many expected to see Matt Moore walk away with the job, David Garrard looks to be in the lead at this point in time.

“The more you hear, the more it sounds like David Garrard has really taken this opportunity to emerge as the favorite to be the starting quarterback down in Miami,” said Schefter. “Very impressive, adept, good footwork. Matt Moore‘s been good, Ryan Tannehill’s been good, but David Garrard has looked the most comfortable of any of the quarterbacks.”

Garrard, 34, is coming off of surgically repaired back, so it’s a little surprising to hear that he’s looked as good to this point. First-round pick Ryan Tannehill will almost certainly be the team’s No. 3 quarterback this season, assuming that Moore doesn’t suffer an injury of some sort.
