DeMarco Murray Needs Hand Surgery, Hopes To Play In Week 16

Cowboys VP Stephen Jones mentioned on his radio show Monday that RB DeMarco Murray has a broken bone in his hand that will require surgery, per Joe Trahan.

  • Jones added that he’s hopeful Murray will still be available to play against the Colts in Week 16.
  • Todd Archer reports that Murray is undergoing the surgery today to repair a broken fourth metacarpal.

If Murray were to miss time, the Cowboys would likely go with eith Joseph Randle or Lance Dunbar as their starter this weekend.

Murray, 26, has been extremely impressive this season as he’s ran for 1,687 yards on 351 carries (4.8 YPC) and scored 11 touchdowns, over the course of 14 games.

More importantly than his stats, the Cowboys are winning games by getting him more involved in their offense and not relying on Tony Romo to throw the ball as much.

He is, however, in the final year of his contract and is set to be the best available running back in next year’s free agent market.

We have Murray currently listed as the No. 8 player in our Top 25 – 2015 Free Agents list.
