Dennis Dixon, Steelers Longterm QB?

There has been a considerable amount of buzz surrounding Dennis Dixon and his performance on Sunday night in relief of an unproductive Byron Leftwich. Dixon was able to lead the Steelers on two separate scoring drives, one of which was highlighted by a 68-yard touchdown strike to rookie WR Antonio Brown.  Dixon was able to keep drives alive with elusive running ability and accurate passing which has got some people in the media suggesting that he may have some real long-term value.

Mike Florio of Profootballtalk discuss the Steelers options for Dixon by saying that the young QB has already earned a chance to play with the first-string team but that the Steelers may be reluctant to showcase the young QB’s skills for fear that he may prove to be more effective than even Ben Roethlisberger. He even suggests that Roethlisberger could face a similar fate as Donovan McNabb did in Philadelphia if he plays poorly in his return from suspension.
