Dick LeBeau Will Not Return As Titans’ Defensive Coordinator

Jason Wolf of the Tennessean reports that Dick LeBeau will not return to the Titans for the 2018 season as their defensive coordinator.

A report has already surfaced that Tennessee is interested in hiring Packers DBs coach Darren Perry (NFLTR), possibly as their new defensive coordinator, so this shouldn’t come as a big surprise.

The Titans are clearly making major changes under new HC Mike Vrabel and there was some question as to whether LeBeau would return for the 2018 season.

LeBeau, 80, is a former fifth-round pick of the Browns back in 1959. He played 14 years in the NFL for the Browns and Lions and selected into the 2010 class of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

LeBeau began his NFL coaching career with the Eagles in 1973 as their special teams coach. He later worked for the Packers and Bengals before the Steelers hired him as their DBs coach in 1992. LeBeau was eventually promoted to defensive coordinator before returning the Bengals and working his way up to head coach.

After one year with the Bills, the Steelers brought LeBeau back as their defensive coordinator 2004 and stayed for another 11 seasons.

The Titans brought LeBeau in as their defensive coordinator/assistant HC in 2015.
