Alex Marvez reports that former Packers DC Dom Capers is drawing interest from the Jaguars and Dolphins for a senior defensive assistant position.
Yesterday, Marvez mentioned that Capers was a potential candidate for the Bengals’ defensive coordinator job, so they would have to go in a different direction at the position for him to land in Miami or Jacksonville.
However, Marvez expects Capers to ultimately join the Dolphins’ coaching staff under new HC Brian Flores.
Capers interviewed for the Cardinals’ coordinator job before they settled on Vance Joseph.
Capers, 68, has worked for a number of teams of his NFL career including two head coaching stints with the Panthers and Texans. The Packers hired him as their defensive coordinator in 2009 and he spent the nine seasons in Green Bay in charge of their defense before being fired after the 2017 season.
Capers produced just one top-10 defense and that happened to be the year they won the Super Bowl.
