Dolphins Place WR Gary Jennings On Injured Reserve, Promote DT Gerald Willis

The Dolphins announced on Wednesday they have placed rookie WR Gary Jennings on injured reserve and promoted UDFA rookie DT Gerald Willis from the practice squad to the active roster.

Jennings, 22, was drafted by the Seahawks out of West Virginia in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. The Seahawks elected to waive him and he was claimed by the Dolphins.

Jennings signed a four-year rookie deal worth $3,230,930 with a $710,930 signing bonus.

Jennings has yet to catch a pass in the NFL.

During his four-year college career, Jennings caught 168 passes for 2294 yards (13.7 YPC) and 17 touchdowns in 45 games.

Willis, 24, wound up going undrafted out of Miami back in May. He later signed a three-year, $1.755 million contract with the Ravens.

However, Baltimore waived Willis coming out of the preseason and he later signed on to the Dolphins’ practice squad. Miami cut him loose a few days later.

During his college career at Florida and Miami, Willis recorded 33 tackles, six tackles for a loss, 1.5 sacks, a forced fumble, a recovery and two pass defenses over the course of two seasons and 14 games.
