Dolphins Re-Sign CB Chimdi Chekwa

The Miami Dolphins announced Tuesday that they’ve re-signed CB Chimdi Chekwa to a contract.

Chekwa, 28, is a former fourth-round pick of the Raiders back in 2011. He re-signed with the Raiders back in May of last year but was not tendered a contract as a restricted free agent this past offseason.

Chekwa briefly joined the Patriots for a few more before later returning to the Raiders following this year’s NFL Draft. Oakland wound up releasing him a few weeks into the 2015 season.

The Dolphins signed Chekwa to a contract this past February but he was unfortunately among their final roster cuts coming out of the preseason.

In 2014, Chekwa appeared in 10 games for the Raiders and recorded 16 tackles and two pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him down for playing 89 total snaps last season.
