David Garrard Will Meet With The Rams & Dolphins Next Week

The Florida Times-Union reports that David Garrard has scheduled a meeting with the St Louis Rams next week as well.

The Rams were reportedly interested in Brady Quinn before he decided to sign with the Kansas City Chiefs a few days ago.

NFL.com’s Jason La Canfora reports that the Miami Dolphins will host QB David Garrard at some point next week.

Miami has already met with the Matt Flynn and Alex Smith is currently meeting with the team so they’re obviously trying to keep their options open in an attempt to not overpay for their next quarterback. Garrard sat out the entire 2011 season with back issues and the fact that hes 34 can’t help his marketability much at all.

Now this is just speculation on my part but their reluctance to pay for either one of the available options could imply that they have bigger plans for the upcoming draft and more specifically Texas A&M QB Ryan Tannehill.

Flynn was a decent option in the Seahawks if things don’t workout with the Dolphins, Alex Smith could still end up back in San Francisco if he caves in on his contract demands and Garrard could end up being a low-cost one-year rental for Miami.

Mike Sherman coached Tannehill while at Texas A&M and there have been several reports that he’s an option for the team. I’m not saying that this is going to going to happen but you’d have to think that it’s a strong possibility if Flynn ends up in Seattle.
