Dolphins Will Have Jake Long Under Contract For An Additional Year

Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports that Miami Dolphins LT Jake Long is actually under contract longer than initially believed. The report mentions that Long’s rookie contract was believed to expire after the 2012 season but it will instead extend through 2013.

Kelly adds that the contract added an addition year when he selected to the Pro Bowl during his rookie year. His cap figure will be $12,350,000 for the 2013 season.

Surprise! Long has been of one the league most consistent tackles since arriving to the NFL so the Dolphins would be more than pleased to know that they’ll have an additional year of his services. Rumors surfaced months ago that Miami could consider trading him for draft picks but that talk has since subsided.
