Dolphins Worked Out 10 Players Including DL Quanterus Smith

Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reports that the Dolphins brought in 10 players for tryouts this week.

The list of players who worked out for Miami includes: WR Isaiah Burse, WR Rannell Hall, DL Jacobbi McDonald, OT Vinston Painter, DL Olsen Pierre, DL Mike Reilly, CB Brandian Ross, DL Quanterus Smith, G Anthony Steen and DL Jordan Williams.

The Dolphins ultimately elected to sign Williams and Painter to their practice squad yesterday.

Smith, 25, is a former fifth-round pick of the Broncos back in 2013 out of Western Kentucky. He was unfortunately cut loose by the Broncos with a failed physical designation days before this year’s NFL Draft.

He has worked out for the Jets and Seahawks in recent weeks, but didn’t receive an offer from either team.

In 2014, Smith appeared in 15 games for the Broncos, but recorded just 11 tackles and two pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 51 defensive end in a 4-3 system out of 59 qualifying players.
