Eagles Also Trying To Trade 2014 4th Rd CB Jaylen Watkins

Eliot Shorr-Parks of NJ.com, citing , multiple league sources, reports that the Eagles are trying to trade CB Jaylen Watkins before tomorrow’s deadline to cut their roster down to 53 players.

According to parks, it’s unlikely that Watkins would be back with the team if they can’t find a trade partner before tomorrow.

This comes after a report from earlier in day that the Eagles were also attempting to trade LB Najee Goode, so it appears as though Chip Kelly is at least trying to get some value for a few of the players they plan to move on without.

Philadelphia sent backup QB Matt Barkley to the Cardinals for a conditional seventh-round pick.

Watkins, 23, was taken in the fourth round of last year’s NFL draft. He’s entering the second year of his four-year, $2,717,028 rookie contract. He stands to make a base salary of $510,000 for the 2015 season.

According to OverTheCap.com, trading Watkins would free up $261,486 in cap space while creating $372,771 in dead money.

In 2014, Watkins was limited to appearing in just four games and recorded only three tackles and a pass defense for the Eagles.
