Eagles Restructure S Blake Countess’ Contract

According to Reuben Frank, the Eagles restructured S Blake Countess‘ contract after acquiring him only five days ago.

The Eagles extended Countess by one year through the 2020 season.

Details weren’t immediately available, but Frank says the restructure likely lowered Countess’ 2019 cap hit and added playing time and performance incentives.

The Eagles claimed Countess off waivers from the Rams, who waived him after he declined to take a pay cut from the $2.025 million he was set to make under his restricted tender.

The Rams placed an original-round tender on Countess back in March.

Countess, 23, was taken in the sixth round out of Auburn in 2016 by the Eagles. He was cut loose coming out of the preseason and later signed on to the Rams practice squad.

In 2018, Countess appeared in all 16 games for the Rams, recording nine total tackles, one interception and two pass defenses.
