Eagles TE Zach Ertz Dealing With Lacerated Kidney, Cracked Ribs

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Eagles TE Zach Ertz suffered a lacerated kidney that forced him to go to the hospital after the game last week.

Ertz is also dealing with cracked ribs and has been ruled out for Sunday’s game. However, Rapoport says he could be available next week should the Eagles secure a playoff spot.

The Eagles will obviously lean on Dallas Goedert in Ertz’s absence and they’re also brought back Richard Rodgers for some depth at the position.

Ertz, 29, is a former second-round pick of the Eagles back in 2013. He’s in the fourth year of his six-year, $43.64 million contract that included $20 million guaranteed.

Ertz stands to make base salaries of $7.5 million (2019), $7.25 million (2020), and $7.75 million (2021) over the remainder of his deal.

In 2019, Ertz has appeared in 15 games for the Eagles and caught 88 passes for 916 yards receiving and six touchdowns.
