This fits with recent reports that Thomas is looking to be paid as the No. 1 safety in the NFL.
Chiefs S Eric Berry is currently the highest-paid safety in the NFL at $13 million per year.
- Yesterday, Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reported that the Cowboys have met with Thomas’ representatives at the Combine and he’s “clearly their top target at safety.” However, La Canfora says that Dallas plans to cast a wide net at that the safety position if they cannot agree to a deal with Thomas in free agency.
- Mike Garafolo hears that it’s definitely not a foregone conclusion Thomas will be a Cowboy and there will be a bunch of teams in play. According to Garafolo, the money is going to be big for Thomas.
The Seahawks mentioned this week that they will allow Thomas to test the open market and Richard Sherman floated the possibility of him signing with the 49ers if things don’t work out with the Cowboys.
It’s worth mentioning that Thomas is coming off of a season-ending leg fracture.
