Eric Berry’s Visit With Cowboys Ends, Expected To Meet With Other Teams

Terez A. Paylor reports that free agent S Eric Berry’s visit with the Cowboys has wrapped up on Tuesday and he’s headed to the airport.

Paylor adds that Berry is expected to schedule more visits with prospect teams.

It’s worth mentioning that signing Berry to a contract won’t impact a team’s 2019 compensatory picks, given that he was released this offseason.

Berry, 29, is a former first-round pick of the Chiefs back in 2010. He worked his way back from Hodgkin’s lymphoma and managed to produce an impressive 2015 season.

Berry played out his rookie contract with the team before receiving the team’s franchise tag last year. However, the two parties ultimately agreed to a new six-year, $78 million contract that includes $29.8 million guaranteed.

Berry was set to make base salaries of $12.4 million and $9.4 million over the next two years when the Chiefs designated him as a post-June 1 release.

In 2018, Berry appeared in two games and recorded 11 tackles and no interceptions for the Chiefs.

We have him featured in our Top 100 Available Free Agents list.
