Falcons & Channing Crowder Showing Mutual Interest In One Another?

Last year, Dolphins LB Channing Crowder made the decision to retire after not garnering the kind of interest that he was hoping for. Since then former Dolphins defensive coordinator Mike Nolan has left for the Atlanta Falcons and as D. Orlando Ledbetter at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports, the two sides appear to be interested in discussing deal during the offseason.

I’d love to play in Atlanta,” Crowder said. “Coach [Mike] Nolan is my guy. Actually, when he got the job in Atlanta he [sent] me a text. Coach Nolan is a first class guy. I’m not just saying that to be politically correct. He’s a first class guy and a great defensive coordinator. He’s a great guy.”

The Falcons will have some decisions to make regarding their linebackers in the coming weeks. Curtis Lofton will be a free agent and should draw plenty of interest and Mike Peterson could be released. The addition of Crowder wouldn’t be more than a complimentary role but could provide adequate depth their current group.
