The Falcons announced the release of veteran S Charles Godfrey on Tuesday, which creates a roster spot for newly signed OT Jake Long.

Godfrey, 29, signed a one-year contract worth $1.5 million with the Falcons back in March. He was active for Monday night’s game, but didn’t play a single snap.
In 2014, Godfrey appeared in 11 games and recorded 19 tackles. Pro Footbal Focus has him down for playing 212 snaps this season, but he also has a very poor rating in pass coverage.
