Atlanta Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff has confirmed that the team will apply their franchise tag to CB Brent Grimes.

This was reported to be the most likely scenario in recent weeks but it took some time for the Falcons to come around on the idea. The contract that they handed out to Dunta Robinson last year created some issues as far their leverage was concerned. The tag will cost Atlanta $10.431 million for the 2012 season.

Questions still remain regarding Curtis Lofton and John Abraham’s future with the team.
