Former Eagles P Donnie Jones No Longer Retiring, Wants To Continue NFL Career

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that P Donnie Jones requested his release from the Eagles on Wednesday because he wants to continue his NFL career.

Philadelphia granted Jones his release from the retired list and he’s now an unrestricted free agent.

Jones, 37, is a former seventh-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2004. He played for a few teams including the Dolphins, Rams and Texans before signing on with the Eagles for the 2013 season.

Jones was entering the third year of his four-year, $7.25 million contract and set to make a base salary of $1.75 million for the 2018 season when the Eagles placed him on the reserve/retired list.

For his career, Jones has totaled 50,500 punt yards on 1,110 attempts (45.5 YPA).
