Frank Gore Leaves Visit With Lions Without Deal

According to Josina Anderson, free agent RBĀ Frank Gore has wrapped up his visit with the Lions and is now heading home.

A report from Thursday night said that the Lions and Gore were close to reaching an agreement. However, the Lions have another visit lined up with LeGarrette Blount for Friday, so it’s possible that they’ll wait another day before signing anyone.

The Lions have been actively looking for running back help the past few weeks, which includes meetings with DeMarco Murray and Jonathan Stewart.

Gore, 34, is a former third-round pick of the 49ers back in 2005. He spent 10 seasons in San Francisco before signing a three-year, $12 million contract that included $7.5 million guaranteed with the Colts back in 2015.

Gore played out the final year of his contract and made a base salary of $3.5 million for the 2017 season. He’s once again testing the open market as an unrestricted this offseason.

In 2017, Gore appeared in all 16 games for the Colts and rushed for 961 yards on 261 carries (3.7 YPC) to go along with 29 receptions for 245 yards receiving and four total touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 17 running back out of 58 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 50 Available 2018 NFL Free Agents list.
