Giants, Jaguars & Titans Put In Waiver Claims For Pharoh Cooper, Cardinals Had Higher Priority

Field Yates reports that the Giants, Jaguars and Titans all put in waiver claims for WR/KR Pharoh Cooper, who was ultimately claimed by the Cardinals on Wednesday.

Cooper was a Pro Bowl kick returner last year, so was somewhat surprising to see the Rams cut him loose earlier in the week.

Cooper, 23, is a former fourth-round pick of the Rams back in 2016. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $2.89 million contract and stands to make base salaries of $630,000 and $720,000 over the next two years of the agreement.

The Rams placed Cooper on injured reserve with an ankle injury coming out of the preseason before activating him from the list in November. Los Angeles waived Cooper on Tuesday and he was later claimed by the Cardinals.

In 2018, Cooper has appeared in five games and totaled 277 kick return yards and 12 punt return yards for the Rams.
