Giants Place TE Rhett Ellison On IR, Promote DT Chris Slayton

The New York Giants announced Friday that they’ve placed TE Rhett Ellison on injured reserve and promoted DT Chris Slayton to their active roster.

Ellison, 31, was drafted by the Vikings in the fourth round out of USC in 2012. He played out his four-year, $2.4 million rookie contract that included a $300,584 signing bonus.

The Vikings re-signed Ellison to a one-year, $2.25 million contract back in 2016. From there, he agreed to a four-year, $18 million deal with the Giants in 2017.

Ellison stands to make a base salary of $4.97 million for the 2020 season.

In 2019, Ellison appeared in 10 games for the Giants and caught 18 passes for 167 yards receiving and one touchdown.
