On Wednesday, Giants HC Joe Judge told reporters that QB Daniel Jones suffered an injury to his left leg after working his way back from a right hamstring issue that forced him to miss Week 13’s game.

Ian Rapoport reports that Jones is specifically dealing with a left ankle sprain that he sustained during the second quarter last week. Rapoport adds that Jones’ status is in doubt for Sunday’s game against the Browns.

The Giants would obviously turn to Colt McCoy again if Jones can’t suit up this weekend.

Jones, 23, was selected by the Giants with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. He’s in the second year of his four-year, $25,664,056 rookie contract that included a $16,684,768 signing bonus.

The Giants will have a fifth-year option to pick up on Jones in 2022.

In 2020, Jones has appeared in 12 games and recorded 239 completions on 382 pass attempts (62.6 percent) for 2,462 yards, eight touchdowns, and nine interceptions. He also recorded 55 rushing attempts for 403 yards (7.3 YPC), one touchdown, seven fumbles, and four fumbles lost.
