Giants RB Paul Perkins Clears Waivers, Reverts To NFI List

The New York Giants officially placed RB Paul Perkins on the non-football injury list after he passed through waivers unclaimed on Friday, according to Jordan Raanan.

According to the Giants, Perkins suffered a pectoral injury prior to the start of the team’s offseason conditioning program and subsequently underwent surgery.

Perkins, 23, is a former fifth-round pick of the Giants back in 2016. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $2.59 million contract and set to make base salaries of $630,000 and $720,000 over the final two years of the agreement.

The Giants waived Perkins with a non-football injury designation on Thursday.

In 2017, Perkins appeared in 11 games for the Giants and rushed for 90 yards on 41 carries (2.2 YPC) to go along with eight receptions for 46 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
