Giants Re-Sign LB Nate Stupar, Waive TE Eric Tomlinson

According to Jordan Raanan, the Giants are expected to re-sign LB Nate Stupar

The Giants waived TE Eric Tomlinson in a corresponding move, according to Art Stapleton

New York is in need of reinforcements at the position with only two healthy linebackers on the roster at the moment. Stupar was released by the Giants a few weeks ago.

Stupar, 31, is a former seventh-round pick of the Raiders back in 2012. He lasted just a few months in Oakland before he was signed off of their practice squad by the Eagles.

Stupar had brief stints with the Eagles, 49ers, Jaguars, and Falcons before signing on with the Giants. From there, Stupar signed with the Giants early in the 2018 season on a one-year deal and returned to New York this past March.

In 2018, Stupar appeared in all 16 games for the Giants, recording 14 total tackles.

Tomlinson, 27, originally signed on with the Eagles in 2015 as an undrafted free agent out of UTEP. He was unfortunately among their final roster cuts, but later signed a future/reserve deal with the Texans.

Houston waived Tomlinson at the start of the 2016 regular season and he was later signed off of their practice squad by the Jets before eventually being added to their active roster.

New York declined to tender Tomlinson a restricted offer this offseason and he later had a brief stint with the Jets before signing on with the Giants soon after.

In 2019, Tomlinson has appeared in three games for the Giants, but has yet to catch a pass.
